The impact of the EU sanctions policy on foreign trade in sanctioned goods of Belarus

The purpose of this study is to analyze the specifics of the implementation of the EU sanctions policy and assess the impact of sanctions on foreign trade in sanctioned goods in Belarus. The paper analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of the sanctions policy, factors that affect the effectiveness of sanctions. The decision-making mechanism for the imposition of sanctions in the European Union (EU) is disclosed. The features of the current EU sanctions regime in relation to Belarus are revealed. An assessment of the possible impact of EU sanctions on foreign trade in sanctioned goods of Belarus is given. Recommendations have been developed to improve the implementation of the EU sanctions policy.
