Results of a study of women's economic opportunities in small and medium-sized cities of Belarus
In January-March 2020, UNDP and BEROC conducted a study of women's economic opportunities in a number of Belarus’ small and medium-sized towns - Bobruisk, Krugly, Krichev, Bykhov and Orsha.
This project was aimed at identifying the characteristics of the current state of the business environment in the regions, and developing a number of recommendations of how to expand opportunities of women living in small and medium-sized towns.
The project identified the following barriers that affect the level of women’s entrepreneurial activity:
- Lack of entrepreneurial skills among women.
- Lack of supply of educational and professional services focused on enhancement of individual entrepreneurial skills and competences.
- Lack of available financial resources for starting a business and a low level of financial literacy.
Video is available only in Russian.
The study is part of a joint initiative of UN agencies to combat violence against children and young women, implemented by UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA with financial support from the UK Government.
