Workshop on circular economy with experts from IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute

On May 28, 2019, the Economic Research Center BEROС, together with IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute organized and conducted a workshop on circular economy, which was held at the IBB conference center.


Experts from IVL - Ronny Arnberg, expert in sustainable waste and energy solutions, and Sofiia Miliutenko, expert Life cycle assessment and road infrastructure, spoke at the workshop.

About IVL:

IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet is an independent Swedish environmental research institute established by the state and the business community, and since 1966 has been developing new solutions to the problems of the environment and sustainable development, both nationally and internationally. The institute works with applied research on environmental, economic and social issues of sustainable growth in the economy. IVL employs more than 300 engineers, behavioural scientists, chemists, marine biologists, biologists, political scientists, journalists, business developers and economists, a fourth of IVL’s employees have doctorates.

The workshop reviewed the advanced Swedish experience in waste management (from recycling to disposal), perspective areas for the recycling of industrial and municipal waste, as well as issues of industrial symbiosis and regional development. In addition, the experts shared their experience in life cycle assessment.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Belarus, Christina Johannesson, as well as the Director of BEROC Pavel Daneko, made a welcoming speech at the workshop.

The event was attended by representatives from government and non-profit organizations related to green and circular economy, waste management, as well as those whose activities are related to sustainable development issues: NGO “Ekodom”, NGO “Environmental Initiative”, RC "Ecology", State Scientific Institution "Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" Representation of the Dortmund International Educational Center in Belarus, Institute for Economic Research of the Ministry of Economics, Green Network partnership.
