The international conference "Circular economy - opportunities and perspectives for the regions of Belarus" was held on October 12, 2020. The event was organized within the framework of the project "Capacity Building for Development of Circular Economy in the Regions of Belarus" and supported by Dortmund International Education Center (IBB).

The goal of the conference was to discuss the circular transformation of enterprises and peculiarities of circular business models, analyze tools and recommendations for the implementation of circular economy approaches in the regions of Belarus.

BEROC provided section "Possibilities of Circular Transformation of Enterprises in Belarus" at which the results of 3 studies were presented:

- Nadezhda Batova and Irina Tochitskaya presented results of a study on possibilities of circular transformation of enterprises in the Brest and Mogilev regions;

- Sergey Dorozhko and Irina Pekur presented an example of a food industry enterprise in the Brest region;

- Sergey Sysoev made a presentation on trends in packaging for dairy products in the EU, opportunities, and challenges for the circular economy.

The results of the section were summarized by Natalia Apanasovich, BEROC Green Economy Project Coordinator. She noted that the transition towards the circular economy is rapidly capturing attention as a way to provide more sustainable business, cleaner production, and to decouple growth from resource constraints. Nevertheless, at the moment we have a significant gap in informing the business community about the opportunities that would encourage businesses to understand, adopt, and implement innovative business models of the circular economy.
